Liquid smoke is barely like it sounds, a liquid that gives red meat and chicken the taste of sluggish roasting barbecue without having the long wait. 1 Pour barbecue sauce or marinade into any great mixing bowl or flat pan. Add liquid smoke to the marinade according to the directions.
