Preview

Reaper v5.22+ feature the Preview Latch mode. It lets you preview parameter values without writing to the envelopes themselves.

When you're ready to commit those values to your envelope lanes, you can use the actively-writing automation actions or simply change the automation mode to Latch to punch those values in to the envelopes at the playhead/edit cursor. One might say the Preview mode lets you put together a preset with one or more parameters across all tracks that have the Preview-Latch mode active, and then commit that preset whereever you wish.
